Meet Our McConnells Staff
Palmetto Vet in McConnells is a place that combines old-fashioned caring with top-notch veterinary expertise. We take the time to know you and your pet because we value the trust you place in us. With nearly 15 full and part time team members, we are proud of the close friendships that our staff have with each other. Together, we create an exciting and fun environment where team spirit and camaraderie are standard practice. So if you haven't already, come meet our veterinarians (Dr. James Love, Dr. Adam McGarity and Dr. Karen Stallings), our groomer (Cheri Bishop) and the rest of our team. We promise you'll be greeted with a smile!
Katherine Holcomb - Veterinary Technician

Katherine has been employed in the veterinary medicine field for more that 5 years. She joined the Palmetto Vet team as a Veterinary Technician in May 2007. She currently is working part-time and attending college. While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, her true passion is equine. She owns 9 horses and is known as "the one to beat" in the competitive barrel racing circuit. Her lifelong experience with horses and knowledge of horse behavior has made her a valuable asset to Palmetto Vet. She is our "go to girl" when it comes to handling a horse. She also has 2 Heelers, Gracie and Buck (you'll see them from time to time when they decide they want to tag along with her to visit the office). Katherine is known as the "sweet and innocent" one in the office, and she always has a smile on her face!
Angie- Receptionist

Angie has been with Palmetto Vet since September 2005. Her previous jobs included dairy farming and child daycare, so we knew she was tough! She was a natural, and quickly became a productive member of our team. When she announced in October 2006 that she was expecting her 2nd child, she was transferred to the reception desk. Once again, she caught on quickly. After the birth of her 2nd son, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom, although we convinced her (it didn't take much) to work 1 morning a week, and every other weekend. She enjoys spending time with her husband Joey and their two boys, Caleb and Joshua. She also has a few horses as well as a great dane named Diesel.
Justin Turney - Veterinary Assistant

Justin became a member of the Palmetto Vet team in
February, 2007. He started as a kennel assistant, but because he was so eager and quick to learn, he was promoted to veterinary assistant. When asked to do something, he always responds with a big smile and a drawn out "
Aaawwright!" That same big smile,
blonde hair and laid back attitude is the reason he's known (by the staff and clients) as the "Clinic Cutie". He has a big
lovable lab named Colby that often donates his blood to save pooches in need. When he's not studying (he attends Winthrop University) or working, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family.... Oh, and getting his truck stuck in the mud.
Kristy Sutton - Veterinary Technician / Kennel Manager

Kristy came on board in October, 2007. She had over 9 years of experience, so we scooped her up as quick as possible. Her technical skills and
knowledge quickly made her a valuable asset to this hospital. She plays many different roles in this hospital; surgery tech, exam tech, lab tech and large animal tech - all in the same day! Recently she has been given the responsibility of managing the kennel staff. It already smells much better in the kennels! If something needs to be done, Kristy never hesitates to do it. She has a special way with pets and they always seem to love her (except for pet skunks......... skunks DO NOT like her at all!!!!). She is known around Palmetto Vet as the "clinic muscles" and the "fearless" one (except for skunks! -
hehe). Kristy is happily married to
CJ Sutton and their "children" are their 2 horses and 4 dogs; Tank,
Geezie, Rosco and Jazz. We are very lucky to have her on our team.
Shelley- Receptionist

Shelley joined our team in August 2007. She previously worked as a receptionist at a doggy daycare facility and, in her free time, volunteered at the local shelter. Needless to say, her experience, along with her love of animals and happy disposition, made her a perfect addition to our team. Her role in our office as lead receptionist, is of the utmost importance. To our clients, she is the first impression and often the last impression of our office. She
isn't very hard to spot - She's the one often doing 10 things at once;
answering the phones, checking pets in and out, filing, scheduling appointments.... and the list goes on and on. Somehow she manages to it all with a smile and ALWAYS makes time to love and kiss on the puppies and kittens. It is very obvious upon meeting Shelley that she has a profound love of all creatures great and small, and can often be found with a buddy (puppy, kitten, baby goat/sheep, deer) behind the desk with her. She has 2 children (pups of course!) - Toby and Ellie Mae (they tend to be our backup receptionist at times). We are lucky to have her on our team.
